About Deerfield Beach, FL
As the 19th Century closed, the railroad built by Henry M. Flagler established many small towns, serving as home for railroad workers and later as farm towns where settlers grew fruits and vegetables, the freight for Flagler trains.

This "colonization" program spun off a town called Deerfield near the Hillsboro River in 1897. The name was changed to Deerfield Beach in the 1940's.
Today, with a population of approximately 50,000, Deerfield Beach is a diversified, thriving community. Originally, having a strong retirement population, Deerfield Beach is steadily changing with the average age now 37 - 40 years of age. Deerfield Beach also has a high median household income among its residents.
